The best two sentences (adding example of a metaphor, simile or personification):

1. The trees stood as straight as arrows (simile), displaying different shades of green, from light green to dark green. I like the nature, and this wonderful sight of different shades of green always leave me amazed by the nature.

2. The shelter, on the left, with bright colours of brown and peach, provides shelter for those who seek it, and when one sits inside, one will be able to feel and smell the wind bringing the sweet scent of the flowers, which danced along with the wind (personification), beside the shelter.

Rewriting the better sentence - elaborate to establish the mood I wish to establish and eliminate any words pr phrases that do not fit in this mood:

1. The shelter, on the left, with bright colours of brown and peach, provides a cool and relaxing area for those who seek it, and when one sits inside, one will be able to feel and smell the wind bringing the sweet scent of the flowers, which danced along with the wind (personification). - Happy and relaxing mood

Expanding to three well-developed paragraphs:

The blistering sun shone over the beautiful and lovely shelter, standing magnificently by its own. It was a beautiful Sunday morning, and being in a happy mood, I was skipping all the way to the shelter. The shelter was in a beautifully coated brown and peach, just like a human standing in a coat of brown or peach.

I stepped into the shelter. Ah. Immediately, I could feel myself cool and relaxed. The stone-hard but comfortable stone chairs in the shelter invited me to have a seat on them. Sitting down, I closed my eyes. I could hear voices from children nearby, at the playground. Then, I felt the wind. What a lovely breeze blowing! The wind brings the sweet scent, from the flowers, to my nose. It smelled like perfume.

Finally, I opened m eyes. I turned my eyes to those flowers beside the shelter. The beautiful colour of the flowers made me excited. As I am watching, there was suddenly a wind, and the flowers seemed to be dancing to the rhythm. Moreover, they seemed to be inviting me to have a dance too. I walked to the flowers, light on my feet. I knelt down on one of my legs. I touched the petals of the flowers. It was smooth and beautiful. However, it was the scent that was the best. They smelled like honey. As I walked back to the stone chairs and had a seat, I was unable to resist closing my eyes and smell the delicious scent. Then, I slowly drifted away...

"I'm tired"

There are many things that make me tired. Household chores, doing homework and studying. The list go on and on. However, the most tiring time would be the time when I came back from school, especially in a crowded bus.
Firstly, I have to wake up early in the morning, and the only bus I can take to School is Bus number 66. However, 66s come slowly, and if I misses a bus, the next one would be about 15 minutes later, or even more. After finally reaching School, I will have many lessons, and my mind would be very tired after listening. However, when it is after School and I board a crowded bus, I would not be able to find a seat, and I would not be able rest my body - the school bag is heavy, as well as my tiredness. Finally, when the bus reaches my stop, I would have to walk about 5 minutes to reach my home, and my poor back would be sore.
Finally, when I reach home, I would lay on my bed or the comfortable sofa and rest. Ah.... What a tiring day!

Character Sketch

Atticus Finch can be tolerant and intolerant from time to time. Most of the time he is intolerant is because his children, Scout and Jem, does not listen to him. Such include, asking Jem to go home and Jem does not, and asking Scout to apologise to her aunt when she refused to. However, Atticus is also tolerant at some times, such as talking to his friend, Mr Tate. Atticus looked at Mr Tate as if he appreciated what he said, when he said that Jem did not kill Bob Ewell, and when talking about neigbours.
This can show that Atticus is a good father and a man who is able to show respect for others, since he is able to educate Scout and Jem by teaching them how to differentiate what is wrong or right and teaching them morales like how they should not judge a book by its cover, instead of just talking to them like what he would to friends. This also shows that he does not mind what others do, but he would not allow is children to become one who does not follow the law.

Blog - Writing Prompt #9 - Scene from a favourite movie

My favourite movie is "The Karate Kid". The plot is about a 12-year-old boy from Detroit who moved to China together with his mother, and runs afoul of the neighborhood bully. He then made an ally with his aging maintenance man, Mr. Han, a kung fu master who teaches him how to defend himself.
My favourite scene would be when Cheng, the bully charges at Dre in the tournament when they fights each other, and Dre flips, catches and kick Cheng's head, and winning the tournament. After that he earned the respect of both Cheng and his classmates. I feel that this is a very exciting and interesting movie, of how a boy who knows nothing about kung fu becomes a kung fu master in a very short period of time.
I would recommend this movie to everyone, since I feel that this movie is very suitable for all age.

Found Poem on Boo Radley

Boo Radley
Hey Boo, I said
He had white hands,
sickly white hands,
a face as white as his hands
but surprisingly warm

His cheeks were thin,
he had a jutting chin
He had colourless eyes
and dead hair

A timid smile,
a timid curiosity,
a raling cough

Staggerin’,
Coughing,
Pantin’,

“Will you take me home?”
he went inside
I never saw him again

If I did not read "To Kill A Mocking Bird" and just read this poem, I will think that Boo is someone who is sick, since he is coughing and panting. Also, I will think that he is very scared of the streets, as he wants people to bring him to his own home. Also, I would think that he had not seen the sun for a very long time, as his hands and face are very white. Lastly, I would feel that Boo is a lonely and introvert person, as he went inside his house and the poet did not see him again. This shows that Bo does not like to outside his house.

Blog-Writing Prompt #11 -Neighborhood

My neighborhood has a market, playgrounds, a Community Centre and a small park. Right beside my house is the Yuhua Community Centre. When one steps into the Community Centre, one will be able to feel the atmosphere of activities. There is a range of activities, from badminton to table tennis to studying. The Community Centre has rooms for such activities, such as a badminton court for badminton, a table tennis table for table tennis. Also, on the 4th level of the Centre, the studying room, which is cool with air-conditioning, is quite a comfortable place for one to study or do one's own work. At the evening or night, there would be some activities at the empty space of the Centre, such as Taeknowdo and Dancing. Being in the Community Centre, one will be able to feel how comfortable everyone could be with one another, and participate in different activities together.
Beside the Community Centre is a small park. After eating dinner, my family and I would sometimes go to the park to enjoy the cool breeze. The park wold sometimes be filled with people, from young to old, from males to females. Walking in the park is extremely good, especially after eating dinner.
Being within my friendly neighborhood is very comfortable for me, and I always enjoy it when I am in it.

Who is your favourite character in "To Kill a Mocking Bird"

My favorite character is Boo Radley. Boo Radley, who's real name is Arthur, was seen as a mad and dangerous person by almost all of the people in Maycomb. When he was about 30 years old, he attacked his own father with a pair of scissors. He continued to stay in his house because his family did not want to send him for psychiatric help. While almost all the people of the town believing that he is evil, Boo is actually not. He gave Jem and Scout some presents, placed a blanket over Scout while she was watching the fire, which took place at Miss Maudie's house. In the end of the story, Bo also prevent Bob Ewell from attacking Scout and Jem by stabbing Bob.
Boo's heroic act in the end made me liked him, although I did not like him very much at the beginning, when there was rumors of him being evil and attacking his own father with a pair of scissors. However, I grew to like him when he help Jem and Scout escape from the "Big Bad" Bob Ewell. Therefore, I feel that Boo, who is mysterious and heroic, is my favourite character in "To Kill a Mocking Bird".
After reading "To Kill a Mocking Bird", I realised that the world might not be as fair as many people thinks. Prejudice like racism and discrimination could be found anywhere. People might feel that someone was a criminal, a madman, or even a evil person just because the person is different. In Boo's position, he stayed in his house and did not come out. For Tom Robinson, it was because of his skin colour. Therefore, I feel that there is a need to know about racism, and everyone should be treated equally, with no exception.

Short Story Draft 2

Identity of a Scientist (Draft 2)
The year is now 2366, January 18. Singapore had become a “water city”. About 50 years before, before I was even born, the seawater had risen unexpectedly high. Thanks to the Scientists of that time, everyone in Singapore received a special suit that allows one to breathe in the water. The incident, told to me by my father, inspired me to become a Scientist. Finally, after years and years of hard work, I got a job as a Scientist! Now, I would like to share my experience as a Scientist to everyone.  As a 39-year-old, I find it my honor to invent the flying trains a few years back.
What is this flying train? I had always been interested in flying objects. Birds, planes, UFOs, whatever’s that flying, I had always admired them. Therefore, after 7 years of research birds and planes, I had finally come up with a theory.  The Weihan Theory of Flying, named after me. With this theory, I was finally able to complete my prototype flying train, D89-Jk2. Light but steady, small but strong. This model could carry up to only 20 passengers at a time, excluding the driver. This train could fly, and I had programmed it to travel up to 8km per minute.
However, will something so fast be useful in a small island like Singapore? Of course. This train can also travel at 300m per minute. Almost after inventing this flying train, the government had decided to buy the model from me! The Government had said that the system will be ready to use in about year 2364, after floating train stops and a large amount of overhead bridges to hold the stops are installed. I am so glad that it can be used in Singapore! Now, I believe that it is my job to create a better train, since D89-Jk2 was not able to carry much passengers and it could not be mass produced due to the shortage of resources. I had an idea yesterday. Why not make one that has wings? I had studied the wings of birds, but my prototype had none due to the fact that I was afraid that the engine might not be able to work with the wings. However, I had decided to take the risk, and try the idea out.
JK42-K will be this prototype’s name. I aim for lightweight, ability of flight, strong and more capacity in JK42-K. My fellow scientists had said that it would never be easy, but having gone so far, there’s no more turning back.
           I had to try.
However, having said that, I had no idea how to start on it. I could try using my D89-Jk2 as the base, but the wings would not be able to be inserted.
Half a year later, and I am still trying. Time and hope was running out. I was almost out of funding, and I had failed 17 times already. It was so hard to produce a quality work. The thought of giving up crept up my mind for a few number of time, but determination to serve the nation served me well. Sigh. Just then, as I walked to the park to the park for some fresh air, I saw a boy flying a kite, using a plane as the image. That was when my grand idea came in. Why not connect the engine with the wings? I rushed back to my research lab and started on it.
8 month later, my hard work paid off. My grand idea worked! It was definitely a great success! Now, about eighty JK42-Ks are serving Singapore, and being the faster, stronger and lighter then my D89-Jk2. Also, it can hold 80 people, four times the capacity of D89-Jk2! Winning the Singapore Inventor’s award of $50,000, I decided to create a even better one, LP-72G, and this time I am going to make it have the ability to teleport! I hope that it would be able to work! After that, maybe I will start studying houses and create a floating house!

Blog Writing Prompt #7 - Favourite character

My favourite character is Jerry the mouse from the Tom and Jerry cartoon. Tom and Jerry was one of the more enjoyable pastime when I was young, and I loved the way how Jerry escaped Tom, who was depicted as "The Bad Guy". Jerry was full of creative ideas to make fun of Tom, like making loud sounds by throwing things onto the floor even though Tom was supposed to make sure that there will be no sounds when his master or mistress is having a nap. The story often end up with Tom injured or unhappy, but sometimes Tom and Jerry sometimes become friend  through the cartoon.
I liked the way Jerry thinks up of pranks. Also, his comical ways make me laugh. I enjoy the tricks played on Tom, and Jerry makes me more creative than before after watching the cartoon, since I learn much from the cartoon. That is why Tom and Jerry remains as one of my favourtie pastime and Jerry's my faourite fictional character.

Curriculum of Identity

1.   I think that they are any factors that leads to one's identity.  However, I believe that the more important ones are Education, friends and environment. Firstly, I believe that Education is quite important. If one does not have education, he might not be able to be a even better person than one who has education, because he might not learn skills needed to work, such as maths, Language and many more.
As for friends, friends play an important role in one's life. If one makes friends that endangers one's life, such as gangsters that introduce stuff like drugs. If this happens, one's future will be all gloomy and pain. As for people who make proper choices and make good friends, they might help in terms of studies and health and more. These people will be able to do well in life.
Lastly, the environment, although it is not more important than the others, might cause one to not want to study hard even if Education is available, if the environment is not very good. Such an environment might include a poor family, and students might laugh at him and tease him. However, there might be some people who can be better people even if there is a poor environment. Therefore, this factor might not be the more important one.

Re-read Ray Bradbury's story "All Summer in a Day." and identify who should be held responsible for Margot's treatment, and why

After re-reading "All Summer in a Day", I feel that everyone in the class, especially William, should be held responsible for Margot's treatment. This is because he is the one who keep bullying Margot, and even encourages the other students to do the same. Such bullying consisted of accusing her of not writing her poem about the Sun, pushing her around and being extremely rude to her.
As for the others in the class, I feel that they should not had followed William and bullied poor Margot, such as putting her in the closet. This shows that they do not respect Margot, and I do not think that it is the appropriate thing to do. Therefore, I believe that both William and the class should had behaved better, and not bully Margot just because she is indifferent from the rest of them.

If I were one of the school children, I would never had be like the rest of my classmates and bully Margot just because she's different. I will not be like William, who thinks that he can bully Margot just because he does not like her. Instead of being like the others, I would rather befriend Margot and not the rest, who are not kind. I need a friend who's caring and kind, and I know that none of the children in the class is like this. Especially not William. Also, I would ask them to stop harassing Margot, and to mind their own business. If they do not listen to me or even try to threaten me or anything, I would immediately report to the teacher, and I believe that the teacher will not just sit down there doing nothing while Margot gets bullied.

Favourite Memory of Chinese New Year

I believe that one of the better memory of Chinese New Year is when I was in Primary 5. During that year, my parents bought my sister and I to Chinatown, where we enjoyed buying many New years decorations and food. We bought New years decorations such as some crystals of sculptured rats. Also, we bought many Chinese food, some which we had tried before buying them. Many of the food was very delicious, except for some which I did not really like. Some examples were Egg rolls, which symbolizes wealth, lychee nuts hat symbolizes a close family tie and some noodles for dinner to represent a long life.
After that, we went for lunch at a traditional Chinese restaurant, where we enjoyed foods like spring rolls, fried rice and so on. After that, we went to visit our relatives where my sister and I received many red packets. Sweet! It was an enjoyable time we had that day!
I look forward to the next Chinese New Year where I can eat more scrumptious Chinese food and get red packets!
