Blog - Writing Prompt #17 - Osama bin Laden

I think that the decision to assassinate Osama bin Laden rather than bringing him to trial a justified one. This is because, before the trail, Osama could escape and once again, cause trouble and disaster to the world. He was "elevated to the realm of evil in the American imagination once reserved for dictators like Hitler and Stalin". Mas Salamat, a similar terrorist, was Singapore's most-wanted fugitive after escaping from detention on 27 February 2008. The search for him has been described as the largest manhunt ever launched in Singapore. This showed how serious it could be if one like Osama bin Laden escapes, and thus it will be a better and more justified decision to assassinate him rather than bringing him to a trial.
